A DAY IN SAN FRANCISCO – TWIN PEAKS AND GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE

San Francisco

Just before the end of the year, I was lucky enough to go for an awesome vacation with my husband. And it wouldn’t be right if I didn’t mention that this vacation was on the cards for a really long time. Last year, at around the same time, we wanted to plan this trip but instead we went to Puerto Rico and Dominican republic. So this year, we knew we could not postpone it further. We went to the west coast and covered San Francisco, Los Angeles, The Grand Canyon and then VEGAS! It was an 8 day long trip (which truly I feel was very less) and I was left begging for more!

We had our flight on the 17th of December 2016. Unfortunately, it was the same day as a severe winter storm warning. It was a bummer like no other. Our flights got delayed, we had to switch more flights. After spending more than 15 hours on the airport, we finally reached San Francisco, a journey which should not have been more than 7 hours total! That also meant that half of our day was wasted. Nevertheless, I decided to not worry about something that was completely out of my control. I decided to make the most of that one next day I had in San Francisco (as we had planned to go to LA on the 19th of December 2016.

It was a Sunday, and a beautiful one at that! Bright sunny day, super windy and just the perfect respite from the chilly and snowy Pittsburgh!

My husband has been to San Francisco twice earlier. So he kinda knew his way around. Also luckily, one of his best friends from childhood days also agreed to meet us.

After a hearty breakfast in our hotel, we got ready, piled on lots of clothes to keep ourselves warm and headed towards the Twin Peaks! This is a place where you can get almost an aerial view of the city.

We could even see the Golden Gate bridge from here. It was so windy and sunny at the same time. I could hardly keep my eyes open without my sunnies! But fortunately, I would prefer windy and sunny over wet and gloomy!

From there, it was time to have our lunch! We went to the Fisherman’s Wharf. When you are in San Francisco and you like sea food, this is where you go. This is one of the busiest and well known tourist attractions in the western USA. It is a buzzing and happening place where you can find Ghirardelli Square, Pier 39, Ripley’s Believe it or Not museum and the likes apart from all the amazing seafood restaurants! We were actually spoiled for choices!

Also, I had the best Clam Chowder at one of the restaurants there! Check out this photo that I posted on my Instagram. Follow us there too!

In the evening, we met our friend and went to the Golden Gate bridge. When you are in San Francisco, you have to come here. This is what you do! We came at the perfect time. The sun was setting and it was just beautiful.

We ended the day with some amazing food and drinks.

It was a wonderful day!

Thank you San Francisco for being so nice to me! I shall be coming back soon.

Have any of you been to San Francisco? Share your memories with us!

Till next time…

XO, Sakshi!
